Hey, it’s Mare (they/them)

I’m the photographer behind Queer Joy Photo. I’m a queer, non-binary parent and artist based in Denver, and I created this space because I know how rare it is to feel truly safe and celebrated in front of a camera—especially if you’ve spent much of your life trying to fit into boxes that were never meant for you.

For years, I ran a more traditional photography business under Mary Amor Photo, working with families, newborns, and headshots. I loved that work—and I still do. But in 2023, after realizing I was queer and in the beginning of 2025 embracing my non-binary identity, I realized it was time to build something that felt even more aligned with who I am… and who I wanted to serve.

This space isn’t just inclusive—it’s intentional. It’s designed for queer and trans folks to show up exactly as we are. Whether you’re newly out, long out, questioning, loud and proud, or quietly becoming—this space is for you.
Because here, you don’t have to explain yourself. You don’t have to shrink or perform. You just get to be. And I’ll be there with my camera, capturing your joy, your connection, your truth.
This is more than photography. It’s about being witnessed. It’s about reclaiming joy. It’s about celebrating your becoming.
