But deep down, a part of you still wants to be seen - really seen.
And being seen doesn’t have to feel forced, performative, or dysphoric.
Maybe previous photo experiences didn’t leave much room for you to be you.
Something about them felt off. There wasn’t space for how you actually move, feel, or exist.
Affirming LGBTQ+ photography in Denver for queer and trans individuals, couples, and families who haven’t always felt at home in traditional photography.
A calm, consent-based experience with a Denver LGBTQ+ photographer
At Queer Joy Photo, there’s no pressure to perform, pose, or shrink yourself.
I work gently and collaboratively, creating space for you to show up as you are — not who you think you’re supposed to be. Here, you can be unapologetically human.
I'm Brody, a queer and non-binary LGBTQ+ photographer serving Denver and the surrounding Colorado communities. I photograph queer and trans individuals, couples, families, engagements, and intimate weddings and elopements with a calm, collaborative approach centered on consent, connection, and actually feeling like yourself.
"My partner and I had such a wonderful time with Brody! Awesome experience as a trans disabled person!"

meet the photographer
Hey, I'm Brody
(they/them)
I've been photographing people for more than two decades and earned my BFA in Photography from ArtCenter College of Design. I bring that experience together with a gentle, intuitive approach to create photographs that are both beautifully made and deeply human.
Queer life doesn't fit into one category, and neither does my photography. I offer affirming photo sessions throughout the Denver area for LGBTQ+ individuals, couples, families, engagements, intimate weddings, and elopements.

Nothing is ever posted without a clear yes. If you’re open to it, I may reach out after you’ve seen your gallery to ask about sharing a few images — often to help other queer folks see themselves reflected and feel welcomed here. It’s always optional.
Do you share images publicly?
Totally.
You’ll receive your online photo gallery that is thoughtfully edited and complete. There are no selections, upsells, or additional purchases. Your images are yours to keep.
Are all images really included?
Yes.
You’re welcome to bring someone who helps you feel more at ease. They can be present throughout the session or step in and out as needed — whatever feels most supportive to you.
Can I bring a partner, friend, or support person?
Being photographed can feel vulnerable — our brains are wired to scan for safety when we’re seen. We’ll move with care, check in often, and adjust the approach as needed.
You’re never expected to push through discomfort. My job is to encourage and reassure you that you are welcome to be yourself here - side note, this is the part I love the most because it can be so healing.
why does this feel vulnerable?
Wear what helps you feel most like yourself.
Comfort and ease matter more than any specific look. Clothes you’ve felt good in before, simple layers, and easy movement tend to work well.
You don’t owe the camera a certain style or gender expression.
If you’d like, you’re welcome to bring several options and we can decide together. This is another perk of at-home sessions- you have everything you need in your closet!
What should I wear?
Yes. Neurodivergence is fully welcome here.
We can talk ahead of time about pacing, sensory needs, communication preferences, and what helps you feel most at ease. Sessions can be structured, flexible, quiet, or brief depending on what supports you best.
I’m neurodivergent. Can sessions be adapted for that?
I’ll personally read your message and respond within 24 hours.
You can expect a thoughtful reply with next steps, session options, and space to ask any questions.
What happens after I fill out the contact form?
Absolutetly. My favorite kind of wedding is a mellow, backyard or chill elopement style wedding, but I am open to many different kind of queer love ceremonies/events. Feel free to schedule a 10-minute photo chat here to see if we may be a good fit for your big day!
Do you photograph weddings?
